Discussion Question

After high school Juniors sister Mary didn't attend college or pursue her life long dream. Her dream was she gave up on writing romantic novels.  Some things that cause people to give up on their  dreams are not staying motivated or having a support system. If you are not motivated that feeling can cause you to believe your dream is joke and are not capable of doing it.

A good friend is a person who you get along with and that has intrests with you, if you have a person that you call your friend and you dont get along or have anything in common whats the point

I belive that my friends are different than me. This is because my friends have different hobbies. Also what a good friend is to me is someone who cares for you and others.

                         Junior`s sisister, Mary wanted to be a writer and wanted to write romantic novels.  However she was scared to present it.  to the puclic becuase she toolk peoples thought `s way to seriously.  When people are scared they hide and they do not confront there fears.  Another reason is drugs which im pretty sure Mary was not addicted to drugs but that ruins lives.  People just get lazy and with laziness people want to give up becuase then do not want to work for it, every body wants the easy way out.  You have to atleast try it shoot and see what happens, in this case Mary`s novel`s.   "You miss 100% of the shots you dont take"  Wayne Gretzky.  This quote explains howyou have to try don`t just say oh I can`t do it.  This is how people give up and have no success. 

Yes i believe that I am very similar to most of my friends. But I also think it is good to have some differences in the friendship. I think it is better to have friends that are more like you or at least has the same interests as you. I agree with this because if you and your friend have nothing in common then you have nothing to talk about or relate to. But you don't have to relate that much to your friend I think it is good to have some difference in a friendship because if your friend is like a copy of you it kinda boring its like talking to yourself in a mirror.  

Similarities and Differences of Friends

I believe being similar to your friends is better than not being as similar because when you are similar to your friends, you have a better friendship and it will last longer.  If you aren't that similar to your friends, your friendship won't last as long because you will have a hard time agreeing on things rather than knowing that you both like something.  When you are looking for a friend you want a friend that will look out for as you will for them, that won't judge you for being yourself, is friendly, nice, trustworthy and have lots in common.  I am similar in many ways to my friend and I believe that Junior and Rowdy have a good friendship because they look out for one another and they help each other through their lives.  If friends didn't have much in common, I wouldn't call them friends because they could just find someone else that has more in common with them.  Friends that are caring, trustworthy, funny and smart make the greatest friends because they are the friends that will last rather than fake friends that don't care about what happens to you or they talk about you behind your back.

Different and Similar Friends

When it comes to my friend's there is a wide range. Some of them are similar to me other's aren't. I think that's the same with everyone though. It's good to have people around you that are different because it opens your mind to new things.It's also good to have people who are similar because then you could share food. Food is very important when it comes to friendships.

               Junior's sister had a dream to write indian romance novels, but she gave up on that dream because of the thought of people laughing and judging her. The people around her, the loss of hope, was at fault for her giving up what she dreamed of. When people laugh at a decision someone tries to make about their life, it becomes hard to stick to it because they are doubting them and create jokes of why they would never achieve that goal and junior's sister tended to believe that if she spoke her mind. Mary would hide in her basement because she didn't want to be judged from her dream. She lost every hope to think about.

What causes people to give up?

Juniors sister wanted to be a writer and write romance novels. She was really smart, smarter than Junior but she lost her hope because something changed her mind and made her think that she couldn't do it or wasn't good enough. Now she is a basement dweller without any hope to do anything. Some factors that cause people to give up is that they don't have self-confidence if they don't have confidence then they well never be able to accomplish anything because if they don't believe they can then no one will. Another thing that causes people to give up is that it is out of there comfort zone. This cause people to give up because they aren't comfortable following their dreams they are uncertain of what is going to happen so instead of following there dreams they give up.

I'm similar to my friends. Having friends that have some similarities will better your relationship. It gives you an opportunity to get to no one another better, I think it's better to have friends you are similar to, so you can relate and get to know each other better. If you have friends your not simliar to there's not many ways you can relate. DQ: I think friends should be, honest , trustworthy , humorous, and smart. I think that , lies, greed, and jealousy can tear down friendship.

Similar or different from my friends

          Me and my friends are similar. We both have similar personalities, we play sports, are fun to be around and we have the same interests. Me and my friends are so similar we could be sisters. We don't judge each other and we do everything together and tell each other everything. In my opinion, I think it is better to be similar to your friends. That way you can relate to each other more and not disagree about everything. Also, I think being more similar with your friends you can trust them better than being different from them, because they are like you and you can trust them more.

A time I had to do something extremely difficult would be when I left Alaska.  All my friends and "family" where mad and sad at the thought of me leaving.  my mom and sister left three months before me and my dad drove out.  so my mom and sister where here in Colorado.  My teachers were mad because I was there "star student" they always said.  So that made it hard to leave especially since i had made honor roll every quarter.  In the end I ended up leaving and ending a few friendships.

In your opinion, what makes a good friend? Is it having a person that you can go to for anything? Well of course that is one of the most important qualities to have in a friend. When you think about Rowdy in the story, is he good friend? I would, personally have to say no. A good friend would never lay a finger on you. Never the less call you a horrible name. If someone was really your friend they would trust you when you say that you are going to do something and it is for your benefit. They would be an even better friend if they were there all the time for any kind of support that was needed. When Junior says that Rowdy is his best friend, i don't think that he has the knowledge or any way to know that he really isn't. In order to know just what a really friend is, you must have one.

Marys Dream

Mary, Juniors sister loved to write romance novels. Juniors sister was very good and intelligent when it came to writing and she wanted to take her writing skills to the next level,but every one she saw around her failed and something made her let go. Mary never worked up the courage to show anyone her skills but Mr. P would see her hard working in while she would doodle and sketch in her notebook. Factors that cause people to give up their dreams would be your attitude towards the situation. If you are going to be negative and just want to give up chances are you will do just that. Also if you are surrounding with a negative vibe then you wont want to continue when no ones going to support you.

I believe Juniors' sister gave up on writing romantic novels because the teachers weren't supportive. For example Mr.p talks to Junior about how the teachers are "killing" Indians (Indian culture). Therefore I believe Juniors' sister was gave up on and lost hope after a while. When someone has no  support soon they start to fade and give up because well, they have no reason to go on any further which i believe is exactly what happened to Juniors' sister. Even a winner needs someone to pick them up and guide them. I believe factors such as being negative shows a bad message and causes people to give up.

Discussion Question Ch3 #4

Me and my friends are very much alike, but at the same time we all have completely different characteristics. We have some things that we have in common, such as me and my friend, Marcela. Marcela grew up with 2 sisters so she is not as daring as i am. And Marcela is very neat and tidy and i am not! Yet, we are still friends because we do have some characteristics and beliefs that are the same. It can be a bad thing, having so much in common with someone because it would be difficult to carry a conversation on. But also, having too little in common could be very difficult because we would always be arguing and having troubles deciding things.

Most of my friends are similar to me but I have some friends that are different too. It's good to have friends that are similar to you because everyone can get along and you know what makes each other mad or happy. It's really good to have different friends because than you have different ways to talk to each other and so you guys can problem solve a different way. When you have different friends you can bond more together and become better friends. Most bestfriends are different and thats how they get along. Having both kind of friends is a good thing because having different friends can make you a better person. That why its good to have different friends.

Discussion question: Chapter 5 #2

Junior's sister gave up her hope. Junior's sister had a dream, a dream that she gave up on. Junior's sister was holding on to that dream, but she was barely holding on. People have dreams, some have dreams that will never be a possibility, but others just have a goal. The difference between these two is that the goal is something that you are working for, not something that you wait around for it to happen. While everyone wants something, some are willing to work for it and those are the people who will accomplish said goals. The typical reasons for people to give up on those dreams is when people feel as if the said dream or goal is out of reach or if there is a task in the way that you must accomplish for you to reach that goal. To get something there will always be a sacrifice, however the defining factor is whether or not the person is ready for that sacrifice. Most people wont achieve their dreams or gold because they have gotten to the point at witch they give up, some wont and some will make it. It is not an impossible task but it is quite a feat.

similarity with friends

My friends and I are pretty alike. We like football and to play football. The ways we are differ is that they are all way smarter than me. They are all in AP,IB, and honor classes. The classes I'm in are normal classes, not low classes or high classes. I think it is better to have friends more like you. It is better to have friends more like you, because then you will have more to talk about, then denying what you don't like, and don't want them to talk about it. It is also better to have friends like you, because if you like the same things you can do more of the same thing, then doing something you don't like and then your friends doing something they don't like, then like that you can ruin your friendship. That is why I think it is better to have friends that are more like you.

I said that it is very important to be like your friends like I am, Because if you are wanting to have a good friendship you should have many things alike, Like boys usually like sports and are able to bond from sports if they like the same team or they like to both play basketball or football and they could give each other rides to the gym or play together and practice together and became closer as friends also they could been on the same football team and were always helping each-other and telling them what they did wrong and right and were always there for each other i think that is very helpful to be alike because that helps you and your friend to bond and have a better friend ship with each other.

I am very different from my friends. My friends are all city-folk. i think my friends have a hard time relating to me because of my eccentric attitude and antics. Im very hard to get along with which makes it difficult to make connections. i believe that being a republican is a slight set back.

But mostly i will be loud and obnoxious and create a disturbance type of boy.
I am a lover a fighter. I think of my self of a talented writer. In life people will hate I say do not disengrate.
Life will pass you by and you will be able to give another try. So live free like the bald eagle from above go on give life a little shove. People come and go but you must know where to go how to live. How to love and give and keep pushing forward when times seem tough rember give it a shove. Life is life so enjoy.

I am from my stuffed animal Dalmatian, from Windex and Fisher Price.

I am from the 3 story house on Mobile Street.

I am from the irises’, the snapdragons planted around the oak tree.

I am from family reunions and family humor, from my mom and dad and my grandma.

I am from the watching Sunday night football and watching movies on late night Fridays.

I am from Christianity. I am from the nighttime Christmas mass and the early morning Easter mass.

I'm from the mile high city of Colorado, my family is many cultures such as Filipino, Irish and Italian, steak and potatoes that I have when I go to my grandma’s house.

From the man who served in WWII and got his finger taken off by a bullet,  my grandpa who passed away in 2010 that i didn’t really spend much time with, and the people that fill my heart with joy, my mom and dad my dad.  They are always funny and caring to me.
