I believe Juniors' sister gave up on writing romantic novels because the teachers weren't supportive. For example Mr.p talks to Junior about how the teachers are "killing" Indians (Indian culture). Therefore I believe Juniors' sister was gave up on and lost hope after a while. When someone has no support soon they start to fade and give up because well, they have no reason to go on any further which i believe is exactly what happened to Juniors' sister. Even a winner needs someone to pick them up and guide them. I believe factors such as being negative shows a bad message and causes people to give up.

That's an interesting point of view, the way that i saw it, the teacher was speaking very highly of her and was proud of her, i see your point but you forget to take into account that the teacher talked about her as his star student, etx.
